ImThere is still a lot of snow on the ground in Ontario but here we are at the beginning of April getting set to take off on another bike trip --- this time across central Italy.
We will be travelling through the areas of Abruzzo, Molise, the Marche, Umbria and Tuscany. This will be our longest trip in terms of time: lasting seventy four days, but not the longest in terms of distance cycled. There will be plenty of time for exploring the towns and absorbing the culture of the area.
Our route will look like this.......
We take the train from Rome to Pescara on the east coast and then cycle west in a non-linear fashion until we reach the island of Elba where we holiday for a few days before taking the train back to Rome. The good thing about the "treno regionale" in Italy is that you can roll your fully loaded bike on and roll it off again when you reach your destination. We expect that taking the train will help us with the tricky bits.
So now we put away the snowshoes and leave the snow behind, in favour of green hills, blue seas, stone villages and lots of great red wine.
